The United States’ policies on cannabis are rapidly changing, with more states legalizing both medical and recreational use. Even with so many states legalizing the use of cannabis, there are still some states where it is not legal and there are new federal bills being introduced every year.
Research predicts that seven new states may approve recreational marijuana by 2030 including Florida, Oklahoma, and South Dakota. Federal regulations have shifted as well, with greater activity surrounding the Controlled Substances Act, the Cannabis Opportunity Act, and the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act. President Biden even issued an executive order pardoning non-violent offenders convicted of possession of marijuana.
