Ripple Donates $100,000 in XRP to Support California Wildfire Relief Efforts

Ripple has donated over $100K to California wildfire victims, contributing to an initiative led by Shift4 CEO Jared Isaacman

Ripple Labs has donated $100,000 in XRP to aid victims of the California wildfires.

The donation will be facilitated through The Giving Block and will support relief efforts by nonprofit organizations World Central Kitchen (WCK) and GiveDirectly, which actively provide resources to affected communities.

The contribution is part of a larger fundraiser launched by Jared Isaacman, Shift4 CEO and President-elect Donald Trump’s NASA nominee, in collaboration with The Giving Block, to raise $2 million to assist wildfire victims.

The Scale of the California Wildfire Crisis

Over $25,000 had been raised from over 100 crypto contributions by January 13, with Ripple becoming the first major corporate donor to back the cause.

Earlier this month, Ripple also partnered with MoonPay to donate $50,000 to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, which supports firefighters by funding essential tools and resources not covered by the city’s budget.

California’s wildfires, fueled by extreme drought conditions and powerful Santa Ana winds, have left a devastating impact. Since early January, tens of thousands have been evacuated, with reports confirming at least 24 fatalities and widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure.

The fires, affecting areas like Palisades, Eaton, Sylmar, and Ventura, have burned approximately 40,000 acres, with economic losses estimated at over $50 billion.

While some fires, like the Hurst fire, have been contained, the Palisades blaze continues to spread.

Ripple Contributing To The Cause

This follows similar efforts in recent years, including Ripple’s $100,000 donation for Maui fire relief in 2023 and the company’s support for the hurricane victims in late 2024. Isaacman’s matching of the first $475,000 raised during that period further underscores the impact of collaboration in disaster relief efforts.

Ripple’s latest donation also comes as XRP remains one of the best-performing cryptocurrencies among the top 50 by market capitalization, trading at $2.86, just 15.5% below its all-time high of $3.40, achieved in January 2018.

The coin is currently trading at $2.85, a 10% increase from yesterday, with a market capitalization also up 10%, currently at $163.6B.
