Dubai Multi Commodities Centre and Crypto.com signed a memorandum of understanding on December 16, 2025, to advance tokenization of commodities and develop digital trade infrastructure. The agreement targets blockchain applications to update financing, trading and settlement in commodities sectors.
DMCC, a free zone with over 26,000 member companies, handles major trade in gold, diamonds, energy and agriculture. Crypto.com, a cryptocurrency platform, brings expertise in digital assets. The partnership seeks to reduce settlement delays, increase price transparency and expand global access.
Focus on Tokenized Assets
The collaboration centers on tokenizing physical commodities, including precious metals, diamonds, energy products and agricultural goods. Parties will assess listing tokenized commodities on the Crypto.com Exchange, pending regulatory approvals.
Other areas include custody solutions, liquidity mechanisms and digital asset payments for DMCC platforms and members. This effort aligns with Dubai’s push to blend traditional trade with blockchain technology.
Benefits for Liquidity and Efficiency
Tokenization allows fractional ownership, which improves liquidity and attracts more investors. It provides immutable records for secure tracking, reduces intermediaries and cuts costs.
The move addresses market inefficiencies, such as slow settlements in legacy systems, and supports broader participation in global commodities trade.
Building on Regulatory Foundations
This agreement extends DMCC’s prior work, including its partnership with Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) signed on October 8, 2025. That deal focused on pilot projects for tokenizing gold and diamonds, as detailed in the DMCC release.
The VARA collaboration includes education on tokenization risks and benefits, reinforcing frameworks for secure digital assets.
Education and Market Development
Crypto.com will partner with the DMCC Crypto Centre on programs like workshops and hackathons to build Web3 knowledge among businesses and regulators.
These initiatives aim to foster responsible innovation and position Dubai as a leader in digital finance. The partnership supports Dubai’s economic goals, with DMCC contributing 7% to the emirate’s GDP.
