Aave heads to Mantle as institutional DeFi push accelerates
On December 2, 2025, crypto exchange Bybit, Layer 2 network Mantle and lending protocol Aave announced a strategic partnership designed to move “institutional-grade” liquidity onchain at global scale.
Under the deal, Aave will deploy its lending markets on Mantle Network, an Ethereum Layer 2 built for low fees, high throughput and real-world asset use cases. The integration is meant to let users supply, borrow and access tokenized assets within Mantle’s DeFi, stablecoin, restaking and real-world asset ecosystem using Aave’s battle-tested lending contracts.
The partnership is led by TokenLogic, an Aave service provider that specializes in onchain treasury and liquidity strategies, and is framed as a way to open new onchain liquidity routes for both retail and institutional capital.
Bybit to act as “global liquidity bridge” for 70 million users
Bybit will serve as the “Global Liquidity Bridge” in the three-way collaboration. According to the announcement, the exchange will connect its centralized order books, collateral management and prime brokerage-style infrastructure directly to Aave markets on Mantle, giving more than 70 million Bybit users a path into onchain lending and structured yield products.
The partners say they plan to explore future listings and onchain earn products tied to Mantle-based assets on Bybit, subject to regulatory approvals and market conditions.
The move builds on a series of Mantle-Bybit initiatives in 2025, including the “MNT x Bybit Institutional” program launched in September, which offers higher leverage and tailored benefits for institutional clients trading Mantle’s MNT token on the exchange.
Mantle doubles down on real-world assets and regulated yield
Mantle positions itself as a distribution and liquidity layer for tokenized real-world assets, with more than 4 billion dollars in community-owned assets backing its ecosystem. Recent deals include collaborations to bring tokenized United States equities onchain via xStocks and to launch a Dubai regulator-approved tokenized money market fund with DMZ Finance, both pitched squarely at institutional allocators.
By hosting Aave on its Layer 2, Mantle aims to offer institutions a combination of regulated, yield-bearing assets and composable DeFi building blocks. The network’s low transaction costs and modular data-availability stack are designed to support high-volume trading and complex strategies without the congestion and fee spikes seen on Ethereum mainnet.
Market reaction and what to watch next
Aave’s native token, AAVE, rose about 14 percent over the previous 24 hours to roughly 188 dollars on the day of the announcement, one of the strongest daily moves among major DeFi assets. Analysts framed the price action as a vote of confidence in Aave’s cross-chain expansion and in Mantle’s push to become a preferred Layer 2 venue for institutional DeFi flows.
Key next steps for the partnership include the timeline for Aave’s Mantle deployment going live, details of the planned MNT-denominated liquidity incentives inside Aave pools, and how quickly Bybit integrates Mantle-based assets into its centralized trading and earn products.
If execution matches the pitch, the trio is aiming to offer a template for how centralized exchanges, Layer 2 networks and DeFi protocols can share liquidity and infrastructure while still meeting the risk, compliance and capital-efficiency needs of institutional investors.
