The launch of President-elect Donald Trump’s memecoin TRUMP saw the cryptocurrency space’s total market capitalization jump by more than $300 billion at its peak, before seeing a $200 billion decline over a volatile few days that led to over $1 billion in liquidations.
Nevertheless, crypto apps have been getting international attention out of the ordeal, with the top five applications on the United States’ Apple iOS app store currently being related to the cryptocurrency space.
In first place in the finance section, according to Appfigures, is Moonshot, the platform promoted by the 47th President of the United States for his followers and supporters to buy his memecoin, followed by Crypto.com, Coinbase Wallet and Coinbase.
These exchanges were quick to take advantage of the memecoin’s launch – as well as that of First Lady Melania Trump – and managed to capitalize on their popularity. In fifth place is Jupiter, a Solana-based decentralized exchange that helped with the launch.

At the time of writing Trump’s “official” memecoin still had a market capitalization of $7.3 billion after falling nearly 20% in a single day, with a fully-diluted value of $36.7 billion. Meanwhile, the MELANIA token has a $728 million market capitalization and a fully diluted value of around $3.8 billion after losing 56% of its value in a single day.
Crypto Apps’ Popularity Overshadowed by $200 Billion Wipeout
While crypto apps have been seeing increasing attention – and likely revenue given the massive trading volumes — over the memecoin debacle, many have made a net loss on it, not just taking into account the TRUMP and MELANIA token’s price plunges.
Earlier, a meme-inspired cryptocurrency named after Barron Trump saw its market capitalization soar to over $450 billion before losing more than $400 million amid a massive sell-off. The wipeout came as the cryptocurrency market surged and Bitcoin (BTC) moved to a $109,000 all-time high.
Since then, the market has endured a steep correction that saw over $200 billion erased from the space’s market capitalization, while BTC itself dropped to around $101,000.
