One of the world’s most popular storage solutions for Ethereum and its other associated tokens, MyEtherWallet, is all set to release its cold-storage platform for Android and iPhone users.
Called MEWconnect, a beta version of the app will make its way onto iOS and Android markets within the coming few days. While a lot of details regarding the functionality of this wallet remain to be seen, an online media source has reported that a fully operational version of the software should be available for download by September.
MEW representatives also released an official statement on their website which read:
“From the makers of MyEtherWallet comes, a free and open-source smartphone app that brings hardware wallet functionality to your iOS and Android devices. MEWconnect establishes a secure connection between you and the blockchain while keeping your private key separate from the browser. With an added layer of security, MEWconnect puts you in total control of your assets.”
Lastly, in order to successfully deploy the app, users will have to employ a master password— which will effectively eliminate the need for having a private key.
