In a recent statement, Liechtenstein’s Prime Minister Daniel Risch expressed his intention to enable citizens to pay for government services using Bitcoin. Although specific details are yet to be revealed, the Prime Minister assured that a Bitcoin payment option will be implemented soon.

Liechtenstein to Accept Bitcoin Payments & Convert to Swiss Francs

The European microstate plans to accept Bitcoin payments for government services and instantly convert them into Swiss francs, their national currency. Swiss communities Zug and Lugano have successfully employed this strategy, where local authorities have legalized Bitcoin payments for certain taxes and public service expenses.

In Lugano, even popular fast-food chain McDonald’s has embraced Bitcoin payments, showcasing the growing acceptance of cryptocurrency in the region.
