Tokenized stock platforms let you buy exposure to U.S. shares through blockchain-based products, but two tokens tracking the same company can carry different fees, ownership rights and withdrawal rules.

Suppose you have $500 and want exposure to Nvidia. You could buy ordinary shares through a stockbroker, but Kraken, Robinhood, Ondo Finance and Binance offer blockchain-based alternatives. Some let you keep tokens in your own wallet, while others provide stock-price exposure through contracts managed within a trading application.

The difference may seem small when you are watching Nvidia’s price, but it becomes important when you want to move your holdings or sell them. A token backed by shares is not necessarily the same as owning those shares, while a platform advertising zero commission may still charge through currency conversion, spreads or other transaction costs.

The choice has also become more complicated in 2026 as tokenized stocks spread across more blockchain networks. Robinhood has expanded beyond its original European app-based offering, Kraken has added new ways to trade xStocks, and Ondo has extended tokenized equity access through major wallets and exchanges.

What Are Tokenized Stocks, and What Does Your $500 Buy?

Stock tokenization involves creating a blockchain-based financial instrument linked to a traditional security, such as a company share or an exchange-traded fund. Depending on the product, the token may be backed by actual shares held with a custodian or structured as a derivative whose value follows the underlying asset.

If you buy $500 worth of tokenized Nvidia exposure, your position is designed to move with Nvidia’s market value. A 10% increase in the underlying share price could translate into a similar gain before fees and any difference between the token’s trading price and the actual stock price. However, that does not automatically make you a shareholder of Nvidia.

Robinhood introduced tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs to eligible European customers in June 2025, allowing them to buy fractional exposure to U.S. companies through its crypto application. Its Classic Stock Tokens are derivative contracts, meaning you hold a financial claim linked to the share price rather than the underlying shares themselves.

Kraken’s xStocks work differently because the tokens are backed by securities held in custody, while Ondo uses underlying stocks, ETFs and cash to support its tokenized products. Binance’s bStocks are also backed by shares, although they are legally structured as certificates rather than ordinary company shares.

The distinction matters because ordinary stock ownership can carry voting rights and direct shareholder entitlements. With tokenized products, those rights depend on the issuer and the type of instrument you purchase.

What Will You Pay to Trade Tokenized Stocks?

The advertised commission is a useful starting point, but it does not always show the full cost of buying or selling.

Robinhood Europe’s Classic Stock Tokens have a relatively straightforward pricing arrangement, with a 0.10% foreign-exchange fee applied when you buy or sell. There is no separate Robinhood trading commission, although the final order price can change slightly while a transaction is being processed.

For a $500-equivalent purchase, the 0.10% charge amounts to approximately $0.50, or its euro equivalent. Selling a position of the same value would incur another currency conversion fee, meaning a simple round trip would cost approximately $1 in FX charges before accounting for price movements.

Kraken offers more ways to trade, which makes its pricing less uniform. Standard xStocks purchases using USD or USDG carry no separate trading commission, although the quoted price may include a spread. Its separate conversion feature has carried a 1% charge, while eligible Kraken Pro trades follow the applicable order-book fee schedule.

On your $500 purchase, a 1% conversion fee would cost $5. That is considerably more than the $0.50 equivalent of a 0.10% fee, although the comparison does not establish which platform would offer the better execution price.

Kraken has also expanded around-the-clock trading for selected xStocks, including Nvidia, Tesla and Apple. While that gives eligible customers more flexibility outside regular U.S. trading hours, prices can differ from those available when the underlying stock exchange is open.

Binance is another example of why the type of transaction matters. Buying bStocks through the spot market is different from converting eligible third-party tokenized securities into Binance-issued certificates.

In August, Binance introduced a conversion programme allowing selected tokens to be exchanged for corresponding bStocks at a fixed 1:1 ratio. The zero-fee promotion runs through October 11, 2026, subject to daily limits, but it does not mean every bStocks spot trade is free.

Ondo’s costs are less straightforward to compare because its products are traded through different exchanges and blockchain applications. The final amount you pay can depend on the venue, the quoted spread and any network charges, rather than one fixed commission covering every transaction.

Ondo expanded its tokenized stock offering to Solana in January 2026, initially bringing more than 200 stocks and ETFs to the network. The expansion made it possible to access more U.S. equity-linked products through Solana-based applications, although the prices available through individual marketplaces can still differ.

If you are putting $500 into Nvidia exposure, the better comparison is how many tokens you receive and what you could immediately sell them for. Zero commission offers little advantage if the buying price is noticeably higher than the underlying stock’s market value.

Can You Move Your Stocks After Buying Them?

Imagine buying Nvidia exposure today and deciding several months later that you want to switch platforms. Whether you can transfer the position without selling depends on the product you hold.

Robinhood’s Classic Stock Tokens remain within its European trading application, so you cannot currently move those contracts into an external wallet. You would need to sell your holding and use the proceeds to establish a new position elsewhere, potentially facing another currency conversion charge.

However, Robinhood’s tokenized equity business is no longer limited to that original structure. In July 2026, the company launched new stock tokens through Robinhood Wallet, extending access to eligible users in more than 120 countries through Robinhood Chain.

Those newer blockchain tokens are distinct from the Classic Stock Tokens offered through Robinhood Europe. Their trading and transfer arrangements should therefore be assessed separately rather than treating every Robinhood stock token as an app-only derivative.

Kraken’s xStocks provide a clearer self-custody option for eligible customers, allowing supported tokens to move between the exchange and compatible blockchain wallets.

Kraken extended xStocks to Ethereum in September 2025, adding another network alongside Solana for holding and transferring tokenized equities. That means you can move supported assets without necessarily selling your exposure first.

Even so, the underlying Nvidia shares remain within the securities custody arrangements supporting xStocks. Your wallet holds the token, not a share registered directly in your name.

Ondo offers similar flexibility through supported wallets and blockchain networks. In June 2026, it integrated tokenized stocks into Ledger Wallet, allowing eligible customers to swap more than 260 tokenized stocks and ETFs through the wallet.

That access does not remove the distinction between trading a token and redeeming it directly. You may be able to buy or transfer an Ondo token through a supported marketplace without qualifying to redeem it with the issuer, since direct redemption involves identity checks and eligibility requirements.

Binance bStocks can also be transferred through supported blockchain networks, although their legal structure remains different from holding ordinary shares. A certificate gives you rights defined by the issuer, and converting an Ondo token into a bStock changes the financial product you own, even when the exchange happens at a 1:1 ratio.

This is particularly relevant if you want to hold tokenized stocks for several years. The ability to transfer a token gives you more control over where it sits, but selling or redeeming that position still depends on the markets and institutions supporting it.

Where Can You Trade Tokenized Stocks in 2026?

The platform with the lowest apparent fees may not be available where you live. Tokenized equities remain subject to securities rules that differ across countries, and access to a crypto exchange does not guarantee access to its stock-linked products.

Kraken offers xStocks in numerous non-U.S. markets, but its restrictions exclude customers in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, among other jurisdictions. European Economic Area customers face additional conditions and cannot access every trading method available elsewhere.

Robinhood’s Classic Stock Tokens are available to eligible European customers, with fractional positions starting from €1. Its newer Robinhood Wallet stock tokens have broader geographical coverage, although availability still varies by jurisdiction and product.

Ondo’s international offering is also mainly directed at eligible non-U.S. customers, with further restrictions applying to direct minting and redemption. Being able to acquire a token through a third-party marketplace does not necessarily give you access to every service offered by the issuer.

Binance bStocks operate under approved prospectus arrangements in Abu Dhabi Global Market, with access in other permitted jurisdictions limited by the applicable secondary-market rules. U.S. persons cannot participate in the offering.

The importance of country restrictions became clearer earlier this year when Gemini exited several markets after previously offering tokenized U.S. stocks to European customers through Dinari.

Gemini announced its market withdrawal in February 2026, affecting the United Kingdom, European Economic Area and Australia. Customer accounts entered withdrawal-only mode in March before closing on April 6.

If you had expected to hold tokenized equities through the exchange for several years, that decision would have forced you to reconsider where to keep or sell your assets.

The ability to move supported tokens between wallets can provide additional options when a platform changes its services, but another exchange must still support the product for you to trade it.

Which Platform Makes Sense for Your $500?

You do not need the same features if your only goal is to follow Nvidia’s price as you would if you want to hold a transferable token in a personal wallet.

Robinhood Europe’s Classic Stock Tokens offer a straightforward route for eligible customers who prefer managing their positions within one application. The 0.10% FX fee is relatively easy to calculate, although those contracts cannot currently be transferred to external wallets.

Kraken may be more suitable if you already use cryptocurrency wallets and want greater freedom to move your holdings. Its xStocks are backed by underlying securities and support compatible blockchain transfers, but your actual trading cost depends on how you buy or convert the tokens.

Ondo offers access to a broad selection of tokenized securities across several networks, making it worth comparing if you want to hold stock-linked tokens alongside other blockchain assets. You would still need to check the execution costs and redemption rules for the marketplace you use.

Binance may be convenient if you already use its exchange and qualify for bStocks, particularly when converting supported securities into tokenized certificates. However, those certificates carry their own legal rights, and temporary fee promotions should not be mistaken for permanent pricing.

A conventional stockbroker is also worth considering if you mainly want to own ordinary Nvidia shares. Tokenization may give you extended trading hours and more options for blockchain transfers, but it does not automatically provide the same shareholder rights or securities protections.

For a $500 purchase, the difference between a $0.50 fee and a $5 fee is easy to see. What is less obvious, and potentially more important over time, is whether you can transfer your holding, how you can redeem it and what rights you retain if an issuer encounters financial difficulties.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are tokenized stocks the same as ordinary shares?

Not necessarily. Some tokens are backed by actual securities, while others represent derivatives or certificates linked to stock prices. The legal structure determines your ownership claims, dividend treatment and voting rights.

Can you trade tokenized stocks during weekends?

Some tokenized securities support weekend trading, although hours differ across platforms and assets. Ondo introduced 24/7 minting and redemption for six selected products in June 2026, including tokens linked to Nvidia and Tesla.

Can you withdraw tokenized stocks to a personal wallet?

Kraken, Ondo and Binance support compatible wallet transfers for eligible tokens. Robinhood’s original European Classic Stock Tokens cannot currently be withdrawn to external wallets, while its newer Robinhood Wallet stock-token offering has separate transfer arrangements.

Which tokenized stock platform has the lowest fees?

There is no verified overall winner because the total cost depends on the transaction and execution price. Robinhood Europe’s Classic Stock Tokens carry a 0.10% FX fee, Kraken charges different rates across trading methods, Binance has separate spot and conversion pricing, and Ondo’s costs depend partly on the marketplace used.
