The Bitcoin Racing Team proudly announces that Sebastian Melrose, a talented driver, and Netflix star, will participate in the Pro-Am Porsche Carrera Cup alongside the renowned Richardson Racing Team, the defending champions. This prestigious championship is one of the United Kingdom’s largest motorsport events, featuring eight exhilarating race weekends nationwide and live broadcasting on ITV.
Sebastian Melrose: Racing Prodigy and Netflix Sensation
With a diverse background of Scottish and Salvadoran heritage, Melrose was inspired to pursue a career in motorsports by his godfather, Dario Franchitti, a legendary IndyCar Series champion and three-time Indianapolis 500 winner. Melrose has already demonstrated his prowess on the racetrack, achieving podium finishes in the Formula Ford 1600 and remarkable results in the 2019 GT racing series.
After a hiatus due to the Covid pandemic, Melrose returned to the racing scene, participating in the Ginetta GT4 Supercup in 2021. In 2022, he took a break from racing to star in the popular Netflix TV series “Too Hot to Handle,” finishing as the runner-up.
The Vision Behind Bitcoin Racing Team

The Bitcoin Racing Team was founded by Team Principal Andrew Mackenzie, a successful racing driver, and his son, Deputy Principal Charlie Mackenzie, who debuted in the Nankang Tyre City Cup Championship last year. Both are passionate Bitcoin enthusiasts and envision racing as a powerful platform to introduce Bitcoin to a broader audience.
Charles Mackenzie expressed his excitement for Melrose’s entry into the Porsche Carrera Cup: “I am delighted that Seb has secured a place in The Porsche Carrera Cup representing the Bitcoin Racing team. I’m confident that with Seb’s skills and the professionalism of the Richardson Racing Team, we could even see a podium or two before the end of the season!”
Expanding the Bitcoin Racing Team’s Reach
In 2022, the Bitcoin Racing Team partnered with Bitcoin consultant Jason Deane and entrepreneur Stewart Melrose, Sebastian’s father. Matt Speer, the team’s Business Development Director, is based in El Salvador, a country with strong ties to the team at the highest governmental levels.
El Salvador officially endorses the team and proudly displays the country’s flag on the roofs of its cars in all championships. For 2023, the team has expanded to seven cars across three championships with six drivers.
The Bitcoin Racing Team actively seeks additional Bitcoin-related sponsors to join their existing partners, including Bitcoin Pioneers, Cardmarket, Reprimo, Ordinals Gateway, Via Vella Ilopango, and El Salvador Tourism.
Experience the thrilling journey of the Bitcoin Racing Team and Sebastian Melrose as they take on the Porsche Carrera Cup and strive to bring Bitcoin to the forefront of the racing world.
