From an administrative standpoint, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is one of the most technologically-advanced regions in the world. This is especially true when considering the fact that the country has been actively using blockchain technology to deal with a variety of issues both within the public and private sector space.
Blockchain and Unique Digital User ID Tech Combined
With this in mind, Abu Dhabi Ports has recently announced the launch of their own blockchain platform named ‘Silsal’. The system which is administrated by Maqta Gateway, a department of the ports authority, combines unique digital ID and blockchain technology for a better link between the trade community and stakeholders.
In a recent press statement, the CEO for Maqta Gateway mentioned that:
“Through Silsal, we will be offering the trade community With secure and integrated access to blockchain technology with the added value of cost and time savings through real-time track and tracING. Sisal will also reduce paperwork and assist in extracting vital information so users can receive live updates.”
In other words, the platform can reduce bureaucracy while also saving both time and money for all of the involved parties. Additionally, according to the CEO, the introduction of the unique digital user identities tech serves to“eliminate the need for access through passwords, which can often be a security risk.”
By reducing the market gab present between importers and exporters, while also providing access to real-time transaction status, Abu Dhabi Ports can increase its activity while also making trade easier for the business community at large.
It is believed that the technology will first be available to freight forwarders and their customers. However, in the future, the system will be expanded to the rest of Abu Dhabi’s trade community and operate alongside the existing Port Community System for more efficient administration.
