Litecoin is often dismissed as a completely useless Bitcoin clone. In reality, it is a great ecosystem where important technologies are being tested. Its MimbleWimble integration is now live on the testnet.
Litecoin’s MimbleWimble is Progressing Nicely
Integrating privacy-oriented solutions at the protocol level represents a major change in the code.
For Bitcoin, these integrations are often delayed until Litecoin incorporates such concepts.
MimbleWimble will not be an exception in this regard, by the look of things.
Support for MimbleWimble on Litecoin is still in the early stages as of right now.
The testnet has officially launched, which can be used to gather a ton of valuable feedback.
A few nodes are live on the testnet, but more blocks will need to be mined to effectively activate MW.
With the testnet now up and running, the real challenge can begin.
Allowing less tech-savvy users to get hands-on experience with MimbleWimble will be crucial over the coming days and weeks.
Doing so requires more documentation, as well as supporting wallets.
Furthermore, there are several bits of code warranting more peer review.
It is evident that there will be a lot of work to be done, but so far, the progress is noticeable.
If everything goes according to plan. MW on Litecoin will activate on the main net at some point in 2021.
No specific launch date has been communicated as of yet.
